Communications, Marketing and Events Coordinator
Asna Shaikh is a multi-hyphenate publishing professional with a background in editorial, marketing & communications, and events. She is passionate about amplifying disenfranchised voices and crafting innovative publication and promotional strategies that inspire community engagement, experimentation, and systemic changes.
In addition to being the Communications, Marketing and Events Coordinator at MagsBC, Asna also works as a freelance editor, most notably with Hazlitt Magazine. She is an active member of Room Magazine’s editorial collective, where she is the co-assistant editor for issues 44.4 and 46.1. She also volunteers as a social media manager and events manager for the BC chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC BC).
Asna graduated from Simon Fraser University in 2019 with a Master’s in English. Her Master’s project was on Kiran Desai’s The Inheritance of Loss, indigeneity and colonialism in South Asia, and personal versus political identity.
