How To Set Up Analytics For Your Magazine

With Emily Chow and Peter Singh-Vigilante.
Register here for Mar. 23 workshop

Do you know who your audience is, where they’re coming from, and what content they love most in your magazine? And, do you know how many people land on your subscribe page…only to click away and do nothing?

You didn’t start your magazine to spend all your time wondering how to market it or get more readership. You started your magazine to bring light to specific topics and complex problems that needed a voice and an outlet. You wanted to add value, become a thought leader, and be of service to your subscribers.

And, maybe your magazine has now grown to the point where you want to create more of what your readers want and less of the content that doesn’t resonate with them.

Google Analytics can give you the answers to all these questions. Join us in this one-hour workshop and you’ll learn how to:

  1. Install Google Analytics 4 and set up the basics of Google Tag Manager to get deeper insights into how visitors behave and interact with your website
  2. Read and build a basic report to see who your audience is: What country and city they’re from, the devices they use, their age, what landing pages they frequent most, and more
  3. Set up basic event tracking in Google Tag Manager so that you can see how many people see your subscribe pop-up window or page, how many people click ignore, how many people subscribe, and how many people land on your subscribe page and do nothing

A short Q&A will follow the session.

Attendees will have the opportunity to register for one of three personal tutorial sessions March 21-23 if they require additional help or want to dive further into their analytics to learn more about their audience and what they can do to attract more subscribers.

Ever wonder what all those reports are in Google Analytics…and, what they’re trying to tell you about your magazine’s performance? Acquisition. Engagement. Monetization. Demographics. Technology.

Let’s dive into these reports together. Join us in this one-hour workshop and you’ll learn how to:

  1. Interpret the (sometimes confusing!) data in each of the reports on your dashboard
  2. Use the information you’ve gathered from each report and turn them into actionable strategies to get you seen, heard, and subscribed to
  3. Understand your target audience better to develop a basic marketing strategy that you can apply right away

A short Q&A will follow the session.

Attendees will have the opportunity to register for one of three personal tutorial sessions April 18-20 if they require additional help or want to dive further into their analytics to learn more about their audience and what they can do to attract more subscribers (and advertisers!).

This workshop and the one on April 26 are meant to build on the March 15 workshop and get you and your magazine well on your way to using analytics, online marketing, and engagement tools like a pro.
