Position: Part-time hybrid position (24 hours/week flexible), 16 weeks, starting May 12, 2026
Location: Ladysmith, Vancouver Island and remote

About the internship

TAKE 5 Print & Digital Media seeks a motivated person keen to work in the publishing industry and engage with our readers and community. This hybrid position involves on-site work in Ladysmith and remote work.

Duties will include working with the publisher and editor to produce a monthly print and online magazine in the mid-Vancouver Island communities. Interviewing, writing, photography, social media, video production skills, sales, and marketing  will be covered, giving the candidate a complete view of the skills required to operate a print and online publication.

What we’re looking for

  • Intermediate to advanced English writing and communication skills
  • Demonstrated interests and skills in at least a few of the above duties
  • A recent graduate (within 3 years) or student of a relevant program at an accredited post-secondary institution

  • The intern will be paired with a mentor to assist them in their career.
  • The intern will also meet with the internship coordinator for 10 weeks to assist them with their placement.
  • The intern will gain experience, skills and knowledge in various areas in magazine publishing and news gathering.

Compensation and working conditions

  • $21/hour
  • 24 hours/week flexible
  • 16 weeks, starting May 12, 2026
