Job Opportunity: Receptionist/Publishing Assistant – Automotive Retailers Association – Burnaby, BC – FILLED

Our publishing company is seeking a full-time receptionist/assistant with interest and experience in print and online media. This is an ideal entry-level opportunity for individuals who are would like to pursue a career in publishing.

Receptionist duties and responsibilities will include the following:
Answer all incoming calls, transfer to appropriate extension, and deal with questions in a polite, friendly manner.
Take messages for all company departments; check company voicemail daily.
Open, process, and distribute incoming mail; process daily outgoing mail.
Arrange for and handle all incoming/outgoing courier packages.
Order office supplies, coffee, business cards, etc.
Assist with various administrative duties, such as preparing the boardroom for various meetings; tidying the room once meetings have finished.
Maintain meeting schedules.
Arrange for/ordering refreshments/lunch for meetings.
Run occasional errands to shops/bank.

Publishing/Editorial duties and responsibilities will include the following:
Proofreading and writing original copy for the website and the print magazines.
Act as the point of contact and implementer of all day-to-day website updates, ensuring that the website stays up-to-date through diligent administration and management.
Making changes to the websites to ensure they are properly optimized for search engines.
Help engage our community through social media campaigns.
Work with our team on online and offline marketing initiatives.
Work on any other administrative tasks that the company may need assistance with.

 

The candidate should possess the following skills and attributes:
At least 1-2 years experience dealing with phone calls/customers.
Excellent written and spoken English communication skills (French a plus).
Post-secondary education in English, publishing, communications, marketing, publishing techniques and technologies, or equivalent (degree or diploma preferred).
Experience working with WordPress is essential; knowledge of other web development languages is a plus.
Experience with FlippingBook a plus.
Proven social media experience with tools and techniques (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.)
Highly motivated self-starter with a “can do” attitude.
Must have own vehicle and valid driver’s license.
This is a full-time, entry-level position. Compensation will be $36,500 per year, depending on experience. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package after the probation period.
